in today's culture, the term "meme" has taken on many different meanings,
but simply put: memes are a medium for expressing humor, or emotions
that otherwise can't be put into words. it's basically just huge inside
jokes that can take on various forms as people come to interact with
them and are pretty much open to interpretation. in today's society,
many people associated funny memes with their own personal humor.
there are definite pros and cons, especially when memes are used to
faciliate hatred and turn often really serious things into a joke
with an example being pepe the frog where a fun, light-hearted, satirical
meme turned into an alt-right descent (and unfortunately moved into
mainstream republican politics), but essentially, memes are a way to
cope with both good and bad things in a humorous way.
